I would like to express my gratitude to all of you readers who still keep on opening my blog even though I haven't updated for a while (not sure if my grammar is alright :P). Starting my 2015 post, still with my English writings insecurities... well for sure that's my goal this year. Writing good English.

Talking about Plague Of Happiness.

By the end of 2014, the band already starts the studio works for our second album. Managed to complete tracking for drums, bass lines and most of guitar works. As usual since our work on USELESS ENEMY and HASRAT, the band starting offs with the standard drum tracks and followed by guitar tracks. Not sure the norm, usually bands will put bass track second... however, playing guitar in punk/rock bands you tent to pound the guitar a little bit harder. Avoiding DETUNING along the process. You might wondering where I get this, well it was in RANCID INDESTRUCTIBLE recording DVDs by BRETT GURAWITZ at SKYWALKER RANCH. We happily follow the process. Now left the HORNS tracking, a little guitar fill in, vocals and miscellaneous instruments.

Trying to make a video snippets out of the process, but haven't got the time to edit yet. 50% of the lyrics need to be rewrite and I guess with a new mix styles. We manage to have 14 songs plus with a cover songs, currently still waiting for approval from the band record label.

What to expect? we tend to have few experimental songs crossing between metal and hard rock with horns and reggae. A little bit more SKANK driven songs for those who love to dance their ass offs. Not forgetting the standard SKA PUNK songs like we do on our previous KAWAN and RESAH AWAN. Not forgetting the recent FEBUARI. There're few crossing genres songs, hopefully it turns out well.

So far there's no plans to put songs in video yet, so far the band already have FEBUARI in YOUTUBE since first quarter of 2014. Next thing for sure, the band will kick offs the 2nd album with a mini tour with other NYARING bands starting at the end of FEBRUARY.

Travels plan. So, far I've been planning to have a 2 weeks THAILAND road trip this coming March. Me and my wife are blessed with a new born end of last year. I think this is the time we train our baby to our world. I always think that traveling will always be the best way to teach yourself and others to be more open minded person, respect to human and environment and to adapt with various cultures around world. Hoping someday, when my son grew up... he have the same passion and share his experience to others. Building a bridge between ever increasing gap between peoples because people nowadays are lazy to learn about each other. Judging and mocking others right on the spot before learning the background of any situation. Hoping someday my son will learn a lot about life.

Gear updates.

I need to put on hold on building my ES330 and amp head. Hopefully, before JUNE the building up process will continue. I've already buy the tuner and titanium bridge... well hoping everything settles then.

Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier

I've been using both amps more than 5 years each. Took them on tour, using them to record Plague Of Happiness materials since 2005. Based on my experience both amps are road worthy, however Marshall foot switch cable tends to worn out easily. 

In term of consumables item and maintenance, MESA tens to be more expensive then Marshall. Right after our second appearance in Rock The World in 2013, MESA fail on me after approximate 5 years of rigger usage. 

So, what's next... I'm planning to scale down to one channel amp and play around with effect pedals. I believe one channel amp are much more easy to maintain and consumables like tube and parts are much more cheaper.  Both previous amps having 3 channel... after more than 10 years I realize it's too complicated. :P hahaha

In term of sounds... I think I'm a little bit of a Marshall guy. Brown old school sound is something that I look for. In our recent recording project, I used FID (The Full Pledge Munkees) rig/JCM800 to lay down my guitar tracks. Frankly, I'm down with the sound... I'm Into it.

So, Marshall please send me one JCM800 2203 reissue please. :) hehehe

Last but not lease... the Obsession towards BMW R GS 1200 LC continues. :P
While entering CHINA with personal vehicle is still questionable, even though somebody have done it... I kind a fond about INDIA-MYANMAR opening their borders for tourist to cross. It sounds intimidating, but dodging your vehicle crossing from THAILAND to INDIA via MYANMAR sounds good to me. Northern East INDIA like DARJEELING should be one of the best riding itinerary to be recon with.

But for now.

Having a motorcycle itself is an adventure for me.

It has been an exhausting and fun couple of weeks. Back to back performance for the band each weekend straight from December 7th and a busy day at office, trying to finalized bits and pieces of small end year projects. Thought I will never completed it before end of 2013... sigh. But, we'll see... it's just that I have only tomorrow to brush all the predeciments. Why? ....I flew to Cambodia after Christmas. :)

Will try to document every single events from the journey... sum up my end 2013 and early 2014, fly towards Angkor, celebrating AIN birthday at BANGKOK and new year eve at West CHINA... :)

So, my task now is to pack for monsoon and west CHINA peak winter season. We'll see tonight... 

till then... skip the desk, travel, observe and learn.

Motorcycle Crazyyy

It's NOT normal to think about something that you might NOT be able have, all the time... it's obnoxious, tiring... and spending too much on motorrad website, website review, youtube review (I think I've seen it all... hahaha)... and reading all brochure contents is an obscure fun.

Kalau masuk exam... aku boleh jawab cemerlang kot topic nih. Baca 2~3 kali dah

Visited to REVZILLA everyday for riding gear... making a wish list... again review after review... not sure weather its dedication OR stupidity. :P Newbie (hangat2 taik)... yeah... but I'm going to excel when I poses one. Limitless borders versus the enemy -> TIME.

Even my wife are into it... will get her riding license next month. :) hahaha... really2 proud of her... if fact all this isn't a reality YET. I can say that it will be our thing... spending time on the road, traveling... venturing new frontiers... I'm pretty optimistic about this... :)

Collaboration
Recently there's a fair amount of artwork from AZMAL (PARANOID OF DEATH) for DIRTY DONUTS...

It's an ART collaboration between 3 countries named MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE and INDONESIA... still evolving. Having the links on my blog to observe and support their growth to the ART world. Collaboration is utterly amazing as is will generates more ideas, and to the fact that they're from different countries surely we can expect more crazy ART from these.

It looks fun, I think... rather than burning tires and serious throttle LOVE and who has the fastest bikes in town... my goal in this is still the same as backpacking in my early days, cycling tour and what not. Experience the journey and absorb anything between two spots. This suits me well... retirement plan I think.

Aku tgh menulias sesuatu... sangat2 panjang. Jadi sementara menunggu dia keluar. Silalah menatap gambar terbaru aku atas moto kesayangan yang masih belum di beli... HAHAHA. Angan2 perlu ada... duit pun perlu ada juga. Jadi angan2 dulu.

Belum ada moto... jadi nak buat label moto kat menu pun segan. Jadi ini jer lah ye... In Sha Allah... kalau rezeki berpatutan... dan berjalan lancar. Sesuai dgn keperluan masa kini... ada lah tu.

Menulis buku...

'Kau patut release journal kau ni...'

Ayat keramat? ntah lah... chronology menulis atau record'kan perjalanan travel aku bermula dari beberapa attempt yang tak menjadi2. Sentiasa belajar cara yang paling sesuai, yang paling efektif utk menyampaikan kembali cerita2 tu. Aku rasa melalui cerita mulut... penyampaian dari lidah aku sendiri agak konsisten. Tapi apabila rekod dalam medium lain aku jadi agak jadi kucar kacir.

Trend? yeke... aku pun tak pasti. Scene BUKU AKU terlalu kecik. Pendedahan terhadap penulis2 dan penerbit2 AKU kurang. Bukan tak kenal... cuma aku tidak kearah itu. Nak kata observer pun bukan... Minat BUKU... memang pun. Cuma lebih selesa menjadi pembaca... Kalau nak tanya aku sihat kah scene buku MALAYSIA? Harem aku tak tau... :P

Tapi yang pasti ni secara positive... banyak BUKU2 JALANAN. :)

Rata2 bukak tingkap keluarkan tangan... tunjuk simbol 'Thumbs up'. Ada yang berlari ambil bendera pembangkang yang dah di semat tepi2 jalan utk ikut bersama berarak. Tkde provoke2... tak ada muka bengis2... cuma happy sorak menyorak. :)

Based on the labels, as you can see all writing is about travel, music, my band, skate, rollerblading and bicycle. So, if you have the same interest maybe some of my writings will entertain, give ideas of share information.

What is BEBELAN?. Bebelan is a random writing about anything non-specific/non-interest item or anything that cross my mind. Recently I write about big fast motocycles, or gear... or about family and a mixture of anything under those specific labels.

BESKAL? beskal is Bicycle... write down 'BESKAL' just for fun. The right word for Bicycle in MALAY is BASIKAL. You'll find mostly trail riding, ride around town or any other town or any other trail anywhere. :P hahaha... you won't find dir jumping, freeriding, DH or even cycle tour in here. Cycle tour are transfered to Travel Log.

MUSIC? anything about music... gear, guitars, bands, labels... live performance. Except PLAGUE OF HAPPINESS stuff. :)

I'm NOT going to change my SUPER TENGGILING, his job is less intriguing now since the POLAR BEAR around. It's the BEAR that need to be morph to 1 series... hehehe... fixed THULE racking system for our bikes then thats it. The road trip continues... :)

Motorcycles...

It was in the early 20s. The band traveled towards Melaka for a small gig near the city. When just we passed by Air Keroh toll gate... stop for toilet and cigarette. There's a bunch of bikers arriving at the same time. There's more than 30 bikers as long as I can remembered. However, there's two bike that stands out from the bunch. The bike, the rider... their distinctive styles really stand out and makes me and my bassist (Ipin) stoked. Both of them wearing black leather jacket with white pin stripe on their right chest and down... both of us immediately in LOVE with it and day dream about it. We even planned to get one and travel all across peninsula malaysia with it. Called Malaysia DUCATI dealer (NAZA Motors) for retail price, stock and loans. We are really into it... crazy in LOVE. It was DUCATI MONSTER 696.

However, the urge of getting the bike between out groin fades from time to time. It would be awesome if it become a reality. But... we didn't talked about it for along time. :P. My motorcycle adventure when down to the graveyard...

Then when I came back from cycling tour by the end of 2005... the urge to travel far get into my nerves. I found the LOVE from its freedom, diversity and able blend into any culture. The easiest way to get into off beaten track. It's NOT about getting to places as fast as you can. It's NOT the in famous places and brag about it. It's actually the amount of experience that you can absorb during the journey... the people and culture along the way that's really counts.

So, for me... it's NOT always bicycle. If I have a lot of time... a year maybe. Then bicycle would be the choice. Then the reality is... I need to work to be able to travel. Working 9 to five... get a certain amount of annual leaves. Skipping long festive season holiday... that's how I do it.

When I cycle northern LAOS... from Luang Prabang in the west towards SamNuea in the east of LAOS. It seems  an endless off-roads. Then we reached Thailand border at Nong Khai and talk to an Israeli who rent a motocross and venture the same route as we cycle for the past 9 days. It was exhilarating... suddenly the idea of venturing west CHINA with motorcycle become more and more intriguing.

In the early 2006. I discovered Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor Long Way Round (traveling from London towards Magadan (East Russia)... travel towards New York from Alaska for 3 months plus with BMW GS1200). They do it on 2004... I was godsmack with adventure and the idea to have a motorcycle rush into my head. Sigh... I was infected with motorcycle adventure fever. *help.

Everywhere I go I would get excited if there's BMW GS around... it was crazy. Get the price tag... get into the models and feature. Browsing through the accessories... pannier and stuff. I even checkout the possibilities of getting the bikes cross the border. Thailand, LAOS, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vientnam and off course the big CHINA. Dream about ship the bike towards Borneo... ride from Kuching towards Kota Kinabalu... and ship it back to Pasir Gudang. Fheww... the amount of LOVE towards getting the info is crazy.

The more deeper I go with the information... the more I know that I need to have fixer to ensure my adventure is secure when entering Vietnam and CHINA. I need to purchase different insurance for the vehicle and some routes in CHINA is off fro an adventure especially TIBET. (I need to study more eh... )

Along my backpacking and cycle tour days... I came across a lot of motorcycling travel stories and a couple of nice bikes that a friend of friends own. One of it is this sweet HARLEY DAVIDSON IRON 883..

Then when DAKAR RALLY changes rules to have smaller bike... KTM done a good job for Marc Coma and Cyril Depress. They issue KTM Rally 450... I think it would be nice to have one. Compare to GS... it is smaller and lighter. I think it would be sweet if we put pannier and ride along any mountains in west CHINA.

But, this model is specifically design for rally. I'm NOT sure if they're in the market, because KTM didn't put it in their websites. Sad uh... it would be nice thou. 

So back to reality. Talking about off road riding... motocross would be the choice of off road vehicle. Every time I ride my mountain bike with a bunch of friends. We came across a couple of motocross riders along the way. I always trying to figure out... how far they go? can they rode off road from here till northern malaysia passing through rural area... passing through indigenous people villages... how they top up their petrol. Some people might have done it right...

So, for the last 2 years... I and my best mates (Ontot) looking for the best trail/enduro off road bike in the market... again I queries retail price, loans and adventure possibilities. I even post the motorcycle picture at Ontot stall just to remind ourselves our target and adventure possibilities.

Start comparing and looking for the suitable capacity and the more we look into it... this KTM XCF is the right tools to do it. It's small, light and powerful... because sometimes I think we might need to hoist it up/down unridable terrain. Ambitious eh... :P hahahaha luckily the dream went down the drain. I still thinking about it... but... nah.

Today... I switch on my Mac... click on safari... type down youtube.com... and type LONG WAY ROUND. Suddenly I feel that I need to have that BMW R1200 GS... hehehehe... haish. :P the fever gets into my nerves again...

tapi parents kan... orang lain desak/paksa aku mmg tk jalan... tapi parents... aku turutkan juga... sekarang kena pikir pasal grill, pasal dapur, pasal ruang tamu, pasal tempt tido, pasal. laman, pasal store... huh.. ker banyak pikir sangat... TV nak beli tak?? :P hehehe utk orang yg hidop tgk tv 5% sebulan mcm aku ni... perlu ker TV... g Ontot jer lah kalau nak tgk muvi kan... :)

Talking about Bandung... aku ke bandung during azmal kawin.. huh... sorry ye mal digest maklumat salah... sorry sesangat... kalau date nyer diawal atau diakhir perjalanan... aku boleh adjust travel date... tapi kat pertengahan aku tk boleh nak adjust atau postpone..

Dewali

Deepavali or Dewali is special every year. We would spend most of our Dewali with sureas. Back in the old days, we would spend eating his mother TOSEI early in the morning while watching RAJINIKANTH movie until afternoon. After that we would go out to spent the afternoon at the water reserve dam or skate the whole afternoon until the day gets dark. It was the time when everybody only have each other.

Time goes by, when everybody have their own commitment, wife and kids... time became more crucial. We couldn't spent the time like we use to. But, we try to spend most of our time together more meaningful.

Even sureas make a simple RONGOLI in front of his house this Dewali.
